The lakes around the glacier are often called the "green batteries" for Europe, because of their use in Hydro Power. These large lakes are regulated their water can be used for making electricity when solar and wind energy isn't enough to supply the grid. These lakes are also great for fishing and kayaking, and some freestyle skiers even love to slide over them.
Just a short walk from the glacier itself, there are 6 lakes. All of these lakes are perfect for fishing! Neighboring valleys along the road are home to even more lakes, so be sure to check the map! The largest mountain trouts in the area tend to live in the most unavailable lakes. Please check out where fishing licenses are needed.
